DUO & SOLO
score and parts
This book presents a fine selection of original compositions for mandolin and guitar – duo & solo. Sometimes dreamy, suddenly groovy and piercing, then wild or relaxed? Together or alone?
VAN AMSTERDAM NAAR WUPPERTAL
For electric mandolin and electric guitar. As students, we used to travel a lot by train and the journey we made most often was the trip from Amsterdam to Wuppertal. There is always a lot to see and hear when you’re en route by train. There are many impressions: rockabilly nightclub-feeling, exotic moods, adventure, dreamy mornings… Don’t worry if you cannot find the light-switch: this tune sounds nice on acoustic instruments too 🙂
WAITING FOR A CALL
You’re sitting and waiting for the phone to ring. Trying to call your friends but nobody answers. What will you do? Time to pick a song. The guitar starts off and then comes the mandolin! A fingerstyle country-blues.
MISTER OBERLIN
This piece is dedicated to our friend Brian Oberlin. His swingy, funny and great playing style made a big impression on us. When he left Wuppertal this piece almost composed itself – yeah!
LOVE LETTERS
For solo mandolin. Composed in the style of the romantic era complete with its typical multivoiced tremolo (double & triple-stops), delicate melodies and a dazzling cadenza at the end.
FANTASIA – SWING FEELIN’
Swing feelin’ – for guitar solo. An improvised nocturne, starting with groove and syncopation then suddenly a lyrical melody. Enjoy!
